To view the specific details of the regional trial, select the appropriate age group/gender below. Please refer to our regional events calendar for the dates of the regional trials if trial information is unavailable.

Who do I contact for information and forms?

Your school sport co-ordinator is your first point of contact for information and forms to attend a district and regional selection trial.

​Eligibility
​Students must be selected in a district team to compete at the regional selection trial.

To be eligible to participate at this carnival, students must be 12 or under as at 31 December in the year of the state championship and must turn 10 in the years of the state championship.
​District Responsibilities and Team Supervision
Districts are responsible for their team up until the completion of the Regional event and are required to provide Team Managers for team supervision.
 
Students must check in with their District Team Manager prior to the commencement of their event.

​Nominations and Changes
​All paper nominations must be submitted to the relevant District for consideration prior to the District carnival.

All changes and updates must be communicated through the District School Sport Advisor prior to the Regional nomination closing date close of business 13.8.2026

Districts are responsible for ensuring that consent summaries accompany their nominations and all appropriate forms are uploaded to SharePoint on the due date.

​Student Documentation Requirements

​All students must have the appropriate documentation  to compete at the Regional event. This includes:
  • Parent Permission/Consent Form
  • Principal Approval
  • QRSS Track and Field – Certificate of Competence and Consent/Medical Declaration Form​


Students will not be permitted to trial or compete without the appropriate forms completed and submitted.

Students who have the ability and skill to participate at this level or higher should nominate. Any student deemed unsuitable or dangerous for them to participate will be immediately removed from the trial process.​

​TETRA Athlete Competition Conditions 
10-12 years Boys and Girls
TETRA athletes may nominate up to 5 events only.

​$ 25.00 trial fee is paid via MN RSS Shop​
​Absentee application for exemption
​Applications must be received prior to the commencement of the regional selection trial. Metropolitan North School Sport reserves the right to refuse any late applications.

Footwear






​​Scissor Jumpers

    Due to equipment available for use, any high jumper using scissor technique will NOT be permitted to wear spikes.

13-19 yrs Footwear

Use of Spikes

  • Permitted in the following events:
    • Track events (100m-5000m excluding Walks)
    • Vertical jumps (High Jump, Pole Vault)
    • Horizontal jumps (Long Jump, Triple Jump)
    • Javelin
  • Spike length and type:
    • Synthetic track: maximum 7mm
    • Synthetic field: maximum 9mm
    • Only Pyramid or Christmas Tree spikes are permitted
    • Needle spikes are not permitted on synthetic surfaces
    • Football boots/cleats are not permitted
    • Spikes may only be worn within the competition area and must be removed before leaving the arena/field of play.
​Uniform
​Students are to wear School Sport uniform - please discuss options with your district

​Queensland School Sport actively promotes the development of students as sport officials through the QRSS student officials’ program. Students involved in the pathway are managed by an appointed Student Officials Manager.
